The information below was sent to news reporters on November 20th and 22nd, 2025. Charlotte Water crews responded to a sanitary sewer overflow (SSO) on 11/20/2025 near 6456 Caldwell Park Drive. A damaged wastewater pipe caused the overflow. An estimated 83,140 gallons reached Back Creek in the Yadkin-Pee Dee River Basin. Charlotte Water maintains more than 4,638 miles of pipe. Charges from monthly water bills fund preventive maintenance, emergency response, and the safe daily delivery of more than 86 million gallons, where wastewater is treated to high water quality standards and released back into our waterways.
