NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING Notice is hereby given that a public hearing will be held by the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners in the Meeting Chamber of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center, 600 East Fourth Street, Charlotte, NC on September 16, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. or as soon thereafter as the item is reached on the agenda to hear comments from the public and vote on whether to approve a resolution authorizing the organization of a Mecklenburg Public Transportation Authority under the PAVE Act. Pursuant to G.S. 160A-909, the purpose of the Authority shall be to finance, provide, operate, and maintain for a safe, clean, reliable, adequate, convenient, energy efficient, economically, and environmentally sound public transportation system for the service area of the Authority through the granting of franchises, ownership, and leasing of terminals, buses, and other transportation facilities and equipment, and otherwise through the exercise of the powers and duties conferred upon it, in order to enhance mobility in the region and encourage sound growth patterns. The proposed Articles of Incorporation are as follows: 1. The name of the Authority is the Metropolitan Public Transportation Authority; 2. This Authority is organized under Article 34 of Chapter 160A of the North Carolina General Statutes; 3. The name of the organizing county is Mecklenburg County; 4. The address of its principal office shall be 600 East Fourth Street CMGC 14th Floor Charlotte, NC 28202 5. The Authority shall have a Board of Trustees consisting of 27 members, appointed in accordance with Article 34 of Chapter 160A of the General Statutes; 6. The Authority shall only be allowed to amend these Articles of Incorporation and adopt or amend the bylaws by a vote of no less than 75% of the membership of the Board of Trustee. After 3:00 p.m. persons wishing to speak can sign up at the meeting up until the hearing is reached on the agenda.
