ORDINANCE NO. 3577 AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE LEVY FOR THE MUNICIPAL
TAXES FOR THE CITY OF GULFPORT, MISSISSIPPI AND THE GULFPORT MUNICIPAL SEPARATE SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2026-2027, BEGINNING OCTOBER 1, 2026 AND ENDING
SEPTEMBER 30, 2027
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GULFPORT, MISSISSIPPI, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That a levy for general and special municipal purposes of __34.00__ mills on the dollar upon real, personal and fixed property within the corporate limits of the City of Gulfport, Mississippi, taxable according to law, and a levy of __61.54__ mills on the dollar upon real, personal and mixed property within the Gulfport Municipal Separate School District according to law, be and the same is hereby fixed and declared for the fiscal year 2026-2027, for the following purposes, to-wit:
GENERAL FUND 26.88 (Authority: Mississippi Code of 1972, Sec. 27-39-307)
GENERAL BOND AND INTEREST FUND 6.55 (Authority: Mississippi Code of 1972, Sec. 31-15-11)
PERS FUND 0.57 (Authority: Mississippi Code of 1972, Sec. 21-29-117)
TOTAL FOR ALL MUNICIPAL PURPOSES 34.00
SCHOOL BOND AND INTEREST FUND 6.50 (Authority: Mississippi Code of 1972, Sec. 37-59-1, et. seq.)
SCHOOL DISTRICT MAINTENANCE 54.39 (Authority: Mississippi Code of 1972, Sec. 37-57-1, et. seq.)
3 MILL NOTE FUND .65 (Authority: Mississippi Code of 1972, Sec. 37-59-101)
SHORTFALL NOTE (Debt Services) .00 (Authority: Mississippi Code of 1972, Sec. 37-59-108)
TOTAL FOR ALL SCHOOL PURPOSES 61.54
TOTAL FOR ALL MUNICIPAL AND ALL 95.54
SCHOOL DISTRICT PURPOSES
SECTION 2. That for good cause therefore, it being necessary to immediately transmit levy for approval of the State Tax Commission, it is ordered that this Ordinance take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, but shall nevertheless be published and enrolled as provided by law.
SECTION 3. The Governing Authority further finds that the following shall serve as an explanatory statement of this Ordinance for purposes of publication: “An Ordinance establishing the tax levies for the City of Gulfport, Mississippi for its fiscal year of October 1, 2026, through September 30, 2027. A copy of the full text of this Ordinance is available to municipal residents upon request to the City Clerk.” For the next thirty (30) days, a copy of the full text of this Ordinance shall be posted by the City Clerk: (a) in the first floor lobby at City Hall (2309 15th Street, Gulfport, Mississippi 39501); (b) in the first floor lobby of the City’s Hardy Building (1410 24th Avenue, Gulfport, Mississippi 39501); and (c) in the first floor lobby of the County Courthouse in Gulfport (1801 23rd Avenue, Gulfport, Mississippi 39501). The City Clerk shall further furnish any resident of the City a copy of the full text of this Ordinance upon request.
The above and foregoing Ordinance, after having been first reduced to writing and read by the Clerk, was introduced by Councilmember Sellers, seconded by Councilmember Caldwell, and was adopted by the following roll call vote: YEAS: NAYS: ABSENT: Buckner None None Caldwell Holmes-Hines Walker Sellers Corbett Hoggatt
WHEREUPON the President declared the motion carried and the Ordinance adopted, this the 2nd day of September, 2026.
