NOTICE OF A TAX INCREASE AND A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PROPOSED BUDGET AND PROPOSED TAX LEVIES FOR CITY OF GAUTIER, MISSISSIPPI The City of Gautier will hold a public hearing on a proposed ad valorem tax revenue increase for fiscal year 2027 and on its proposed budget and proposed tax levies for fiscal year 2027 on September 01, 2026 at 6:30 pm in the Council Chambers, located at 3330 Hwy 90, Gautier, MS. The City of Gautier is now operating with projected total budget revenue of $13,348,978. 43.722% or $5,836,467 of such revenue is obtained through ad valorem taxes. For next fiscal year, the proposed budget has total projected revenue of $11,640,160. Of that amount, 54.959% or $6,397,351 is proposed to be financed through a total ad valorem tax levy. For next fiscal year, the City of Gautier plans to increase the general ad valorem tax millage rate by .62 mills from 33.89 mills to 34.51 mills of which 3.42 mills is dedicated solely to support Public Safety operations. The City of Gautier also plans to increase Debt Service millage by 1.58 mills from 8.11 mills to 9.69 mills. The Debt Service millage is used for repayment of Bond issues and general debt. The Library tax assessment remains 1.0 mill. The total proposed increase of 2.20 mills is necessary for the City to continue to provide services at a satisfactory level. This increase means you will pay more in ad valorem taxes on your home, automobile tag, utilities, business fixtures and equipment, and rental property. All citizens of the City of Gautier are invited to attend this public hearing on the proposed ad valorem tax increase.
