City of Moss Point Garbage Collection Ordinance Publication Amendment to Ordinance Number 936 Approved June 16, 2026 Effective July 16, 2026 AN ORDINANCE TO REPEAL ORDINANCE NO. 936 AND TO ESTABLISH UPDATED GARBAGE COLLECTION FEES AND ANNUAL RATE ADJUSTMENTS WHEREAS, the City previously adopted Ordinance No. 936 establishing garbage collection fees; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and Board of Aldermen find it necessary to update such fees to reflect current costs; and WHEREAS, the governing authority desires to establish an annual adjustment mechanism to address future increases; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF MOSS POINT, MISSISSIPPI, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. REPEAL Ordinance No. 936, and any amendments thereto, is hereby repealed in its entirety. SECTION 2. GARBAGE COLLECTION FEES Effective July 1, 2026, the minimum monthly garbage collection fee for residential service shall be $25.80 per month. SECTION 3. ANNUAL RATE ADJUSTMENT Beginning July 16, 2026, and each July 1 thereafter, the monthly garbage collection fee may be increased but not to exceed five percent (5%), if included in the contract by and between the City and the contracted waste collector. The adjusted rate shall be rounded to the nearest cent and calculated by the Finance Department. SECTION 4. BILLING AND COLLECTION All fees shall be billed and collected in accordance with established City procedures. SECTION 5. SEVERABILITY If any provision of this Ordinance is held invalid, such shall not affect the remaining provisions. SECTION 6. REPEAL OF CONFLICTING ORDINANCES All ordinances or parts thereof in conflict are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. SECTION 7.
