PUBLIC NOTICE Keesler Air Force Base Needs Your Help! The U.S. Air Force wants you to know about projects to clean up the environment around Keesler Air Force Base. Want to learn more and maybe even help? Call: Environmental Restoration at (228) 376-8563 or email: jan.patton@us.af.mil. They can tell you about: • Joining a Technical Review Committee (TRC) meeting • Starting a Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) What is a RAB and a TRC? • RAB (Restoration Advisory Board): This was a group of people from the community who met to talk about the base's cleanup projects. They got information and gave their opinions. It was a formal group with rules about how it worked. The RAB stopped meeting in 2008 because there not enough community interest so the installation opted to hold a TRC to maintain public outreach. • TRC (Technical Review Committee): Basically a less formal RAB. It is a public meeting where you can hear about the cleanup projects and ask any questions you may have. The TRC is held every two years. The next meeting is scheduled for January 2027. What does the RAB and TRC do? • Both are ways for the Air Force to talk to the community about the base cleanup projects. They help everyone understand what is going on. Both allow the community to give feedback to the Air Force about these cleanup projects. Think of it like this: • The Air Force tells you what they're doing to clean up • You can ask questions and share your ideas • Both the RAB and TRC help the Air Force make better decisions about the cleanup Important Note: RAB and TRC members do not make final decisions about the cleanup, but they do give the community a chance to be heard. Want to Bring Back the RAB? The Air Force is considering restarting the Keesler AFB RAB. We want to know if enough people in the community are interested. If there's enough interest, two people will lead the RAB: one from the Air Force and one from the community. The community members will choose the community leader. Interested in helping? If you want to learn more about the cleanup projects at Keesler Air Force Base and give your opinions, you can: • Become a member of the RAB (if it restarts) • Attend the TRC meetings To show your interest, contact Environmental Restoration at (228) 376-8563 or jan.patton@us.af.mil by 27 February 2026.
