PROPOSED BUDGET AND PROPOSED TAX LEVIES FOR – JACKSON COUNTY
The Jackson County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on a proposed ad valorem tax revenue increase for fiscal year 2026 and on its proposed budget and proposed tax levies for fiscal year 2026 on September 11, 2025 at 5:30 p.m. at Jackson County Board of Supervisors boardroom at 2915 Canty Street Pascagoula, MS 39567. The Jackson County Board of Supervisors is now operating with projected total budget revenue of $287,914,050. Of that amount, (50 percent) or $145,075,388 of such revenue is obtained through ad valorem taxes. For next fiscal year, the proposed budget has total projected revenue of $292,414,725. Of that amount, (53 percent) or $155,911,080 is proposed to be financed through a total ad valorem tax levy.
For next fiscal year, the plan is to decrease your ad valorem tax millage rate by 1.21 mills from 120.03 mills to 118.82 mills. Even though millage decreased, the increase in values may mean that you will pay more in ad valorem taxes on your home, automobile tag, utilities, business fixtures and equipment and rental real property.
The following is a breakdown of the mill decrease. The decrease by Jackson County School District is as follows: Current Proposed Decrease Millage Millage Mills
Jackson County School District 58.00 56.79 1.21
A millage rate of 110.16 will produce the same amount of revenue from ad valorem taxes as was collected the prior year. The millage rate for the prior year was 120.03.
Any citizen of Jackson County is invited to attend this public hearing on the proposed ad valorem tax increase and will be allowed to speak for a reasonable amount of time and offer tangible evidence before any vote is taken.”
