WHATCOM COUNTY NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR A SHORT SUBDIVISION Notice is hereby given that on April 11, 2026, Marcus Dahl applied for a Short Subdivision under case number SSS2026-00004 to authorize the division of an existing 4.56-acre Exempt Cluster tract (Lot 1) into two residential cluster lots; a 3.50-acre lot (Lot 1) and a 1.27-acre lot (Lot 2). The original Exempt Land Division (EXE2002-00397) that was subject to the Agriculture Protection Overlay and a total of two densities were allocated to Exempt Cluster Tract A (Lot 1) for the purpose of later division per Certificate of Allowable Density (CAD) 2001-001 as recorded under (AFN) 2010202542, records of Whatcom County. The existing configuration of the 4.48-acre Exempt Cluster tract (Lot 3) and the Exempt Reserve tract (Tract C) are proposed to remain unchanged. Lot 1, 3, and the Exempt Reserve tract contain existing single-family residences and appurtenant structures. Proposed Lot 2 is currently vacant. Proposed access for Lot 1 is existing from North Pass Rd, Lot 2 and the Exempt Reserve tract are proposed to share an existing access easement from Minaker Rd, and Lot 3 has an existing access from Minaker Rd. The site is served by Sumas Rural Water Association and onsite septic systems. The application was determined complete on May 6, 2026 indicating that all submittal requirements were met. The subject property is located at 8880 North Pass Rd within Section 14, Township 40N, Range 04E of W.M. Assessor's parcel number: 4004141655210000. The application will be reviewed under the Official Whatcom County Zoning and Critical Areas Ordinances, as well as reviews by Whatcom County Planning and Development Services (Fire Marshal's Office, Natural Resources and Planning), Public Works Engineering and Health Department. The file and supporting documents may be reviewed at Whatcom County Planning and Development Services, 5280 Northwest Drive, Bellingham, WA 98226. Any person may submit written comments to McKenna Thompson, the above address or at Mthompso@whatcomcounty.us within 14 days of the publication of this notice. Written comments must be received by June 3, 2026. Any person has the right to receive notice of and participate in any hearings, request a copy of the decision once made, and to appeal a decision when allowed by law.
