THE WHATCOM COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION WILL HOLD A PUBLIC HEARING ON THURSDAY, APRIL 23, 2026, at 6:00 P.M. REGARDING: Amending the Whatcom County Zoning Map to update zoning designations within the Bellingham, Everson, Nooksack, Birch Bay, Columbia Valley, and Cherry Point Urban Growth Areas (UGAs), as well as zoning designations within the Hinotes Corner, Pole & Guide Meridian, and Custer Limited Areas of More Intensive Rural Development (LAMIRDs). Every 10 years, as part of the periodic update, RCW 36.70A.130(1) requires Whatcom County to review and, if necessary, revise its comprehensive plan and development regulations to comply with the requirements of Chapter 36.70A RCW (the Growth Management Act). The proposed amendments are part of the periodic review mandated by the Growth Management Act.
