Surface Water Withdrawal Public Notice Grand Strand Water and Sewer Authority (GSWSA), PO BOX 2368 Conway, SC 29528-2368 has applied to the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services for a Surface Water Withdrawal Permit, under the Surface Water Withdrawal, Permitting, Use and Reporting Act for one (1) new intake located at approximately N 33.665948, W 79.064455 in Horry County, SC. GSWSA has proposed a withdrawal of 1,860 million gallons per month from the Waccamaw River. The water will be used to supply potable water within the Myrtle Beach service area and under established water contracts to other entities. If within thirty (30) days of the publication of this public notice the Department receives a request to hold a public hearing from at least twenty (20) citizens or residents of the affected area, the Department will conduct a hearing. In order to establish eligibility under the "affected area" provision, the affected area for this project shall be the "Waccamaw River Basin" as defined in R.61-119.F.1.e.xi.
