PUBLIC NOTICE The Moss Creek Owners Association has applied to the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services Bureau of Coastal Management for a permit amendment to construct a floating dock expansion with a reduced footprint and dockage capacity compared to the arrangement previously permitted. The amended floating dock expansion totals approx. 3,205 square feet in shading and includes approx. (20) 12" dia. timber piles for anchorage in Moss Creek. The specific floating dock changes are a reduction of (2) fingers or 8 slips to save on construction/maintenance cost and an increase in the clear distance between the existing and proposed floating docks from 35 ft to 50 ft for navigational safety. The floating dock expansion consists of a 223' by 6' run with (2) 56' by 56' floating dock sections running perpendicularly with each section providing (10) boat slips. Additionally, the applicant proposes to construct a 32' by 32' shade structure as an amenity on top of the existing timber deck which is partially channel ward of the SCDES-BCM critical line. This shade structure will not exceed the 12 ft height limitation and will not be a flat roof. The purpose is to provide additional boat storage and recreational access at Moss Creek Marina, Hilton Head Island, SC 29926.
