CITY OF BRADENTON NOTICE OF FUNDING AVAILABILITY The City of Bradenton has $197,000 in State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) funding available to assist renter households with rental security deposits (excluding utilities), first month's rent, and eviction protection. Of this funding, $33,000 is set aside to assist renter households affected by Hurricane Ian. Agency selection criteria: This strategy will be administered by a sponsor, that sponsor must be a nonprofit with at least five years' experience administering this type of program and will be chosen through a competitive application process. Access to HMIS is preferable, since the sponsor could be working with households that are homeless or at risk of homelessness, but it is not necessary. However, if two agencies are equal in terms of capacity and experience, preference will be given to the agency that has access to HMIS. No administrative funds are available under this grant. Rental assistance: this funding may be used to assist households with their rental unit security deposit and first month's rent. Eviction prevention: this funding may also be used for eviction prevention to households who have fallen behind on their rent through no fault of their own and have received an eviction notice. Eligible households: Low- and moderate-income residents of the City of Bradenton. This can include households that were displaced from other areas who are planning to rent a home in Bradenton. Units rented and occupied must be in the Bradenton city limits. Applications will be available starting October 8, 2025. Applications will be due October 22, 2025, by 2:00 p.m. Late applications will not be accepted. The project will commence by November 15, 2025, and conclude on June 30, 2026. Project applications may be obtained by contacting Dietra Barfield, Housing and Community Development Specialist by email at Dietra.Barfield@bradentonfl.gov or by phone at 941-932-9464.
