NOTICE OF LOCATION AND DESIGN APPROVAL MUSCOGEE COUNTY P. I. NUMBER 0019521 Notice is hereby given in compliance with Georgia Code 22-2-109 and 32-3-5 that the Georgia Department of Transportation has approved the Location and Design of this project. The date of location and design approval is: September 1, 2025 The proposed GDOT/TIA project P.I. 0019521 aims to enhance operational efficiency and safety along 2nd Ave/SR 85 from Talbotton Road to Manchester Expressway/US 80 through a series of roadway, traffic signal, and pedestrian improvements. At 29th Street, a dedicated southbound left-turn lane is proposed to improve traffic flow. At the intersections of 2nd Avenue at 35th Street and 2nd Avenue at 38th Street, the existing span-wire traffic signals, which are currently attached to signal poles and joint-use utility poles, will be replaced with mast arms that meet the latest GDOT standards. To improve safety through access management, raised landscaped medians will be installed at two locations. Pedestrian enhancements include widening the existing northbound sidewalk to 10 feet where possible and 8 ft minimum, addressing curb ramp deficiencies to improve accessibility, adding midblock crossings at critical locations to facilitate safer pedestrian movement, and installing pedestrian lighting to enhance visibility and overall safety. The proposed project length is approximately 1.80 miles.
