OF APPLICATION FOR
A SHORELINE VARIANCE
Notice is hereby given that on June 18, 2025, Robert Merhaut applied for a Shoreline Variance Permit under case number SHV2025-00002 to construct a new 1,925 sq. ft. single-family residence on a vacant lot. This parcel is within a mapped landslide hazard area due to its proximity to the Nooksack River, and a shoreline variance is required to develop a single-family residence here. The application was determined complete on July 16, 2025, indicating that all submittal requirements were met. The subject property is located at Mosquito Lake Rd., within Section 35, Township 39N, Range 05E of W.M. Assessor's parcel number: 390535047250. The application will be reviewed under the Official Whatcom County Zoning and Critical Areas Ordinances, as well as reviews by Whatcom County Planning and Development Services (Fire Marshal's Office, Natural Resources and Planning), Public Works Engineering and Health Department. Written comments must be received by October 21, 2025. Any person has the right to receive notice of and participate in any hearings, request a copy of the decision once made, and to appeal a decision when allowed by law.
