NOTICE: ANNOUNCEMENT OF AVAILABILITY OF APPLICATION PERMIT NO: WA0991070 APPLICANT: Tacoma Silver Cloud Inn, LLC 103 118th Avenue SE, Suite 300 Bellevue, WA 98005 FACILITY: Silver Cloud Inn - Heat Pump System 2317 Ruston Way Tacoma, WA 98402 Tacoma Silver Cloud Inn, LLC has applied for a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 90.48 Revised Code of Washington (RCW), Chapter 173-220 Washington Administrative Code (WAC), and the Federal Clean Water Act. The applicant's previous permit (WA0041084) has expired, and this new permit (WA0991070) will replace the previous permit. Silver Cloud uses a heat pump system and draws water from Commencement Bay (Puget Sound) via an intake structure and discharges it back to the Commencement Bay to support heating and cooling for the hotel. The system operates using a heat exchanger, and the non-contact cooling water is discharged without any additives or treatment. The heat exchange non-contact cooling water must meet the requirements of the Washington State Water Pollution Control Act and applicable regulations for a permit to be issued. The Department of Ecology is proposing to issue the permit and is hereby issuing public notice of its intent.
