Ecology's Air Quality Program is preparing to renew a draft air operating permit (AOP) for Gas Transmission Northwest Natural Gas Compressor Station #8, located 3 miles east of Wallula Junction on U.S. Hwy 12, near Wallula, in Walla Walla County.
Gas Transmission Northwest (GTN) has a compressor station located near Wallula. It uses natural gas compressors to maintain the pressure of natural gas flowing through pipelines that run from Canada to California, passing through Washington.

Ecology determined that this proposal meets the requirements of Chapter 173-401 Washington Administrative Code (WAC). We plan to approve the renewal and will accept written comments on this action beginning at midnight on Wednesday, September 18, 2025, and ending at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, October 19, 2025.
The applicant, or any interested government entity, person, or group, may request a public hearing during the public comment period. A written request must include the interest of the entity requesting the public hearing and the reasons for it. We will hold a public hearing if there is significant public interest.
