View original fileBE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF ALDERMAN OF THE CITY OF MOSS POINT, MISSISSIPPI, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the following ad valorem tax rates, expressed in mills or a fraction of a mill, be, and the same are hereby levied and ordered to be collected upon each dollar of assessed value upon all taxable property within the City of Moss Point and upon all taxable property within the Moss Point School District for the year 2025-2026.
For general revenue purposes and for general improvements as provided in Sec- tion 27-39-307, Mississippi Code of 1972, Annotated, on all taxable property with- in the corporate limits of the City of Moss Point, 43.75 mills on the dollar;
For advertising resources, on all taxable property within the corporate limits of the City of Moss Point as provided in Section 27-39-307, Mississippi Code of 1972, Annotated, .25 mills on the dollar;
For fire protection purposes, on all taxable property within the corporate limits of the City of Moss Point as provided in Section 83-1-37, Mississippi Code of 1972, Annotated, .25 mills on the dollar;
For maintenance and operation of a public library, on all taxable property within the corporate limits of the City of Moss Point as is provided in Section 39-3-7, Mississippi Code of 1972, Annotated, together with any other pertinent statutes, .99 mills on the dollar;
For payment of principal and interest upon all bonds of the City of Moss Point as provided in Section 21-33-87, Mississippi Code of 1972, Annotated, upon all taxable property within the corporate limits of the City of Moss Point, 17.44 mills on the dollar;
For the purpose of supplementing teachers’ salaries, extending school terms, buying furniture, supplies and materials, and for other lawful operating and incidental expenses of the Moss Point School District as provided in Section 37- 57-105, Mississippi Code of 1972, on all taxable property within the Moss Point School District, 55.00 mills on the dollar;
For payment of principal and interest upon all bonds of the Moss Point School District as provided in Section 37-59-101, Mississippi Code of 1972, on all tax- able property within the Moss Point School District, 3.02 mills on the dollar;
For payment of principal and interest upon all shortfall notes of the Moss Point School District as provided in Section 37-57-108, Mississippi Code of 1972, on all taxable property within the Moss Point School District, .63 mills on the dollar; Total City and School Mills 121.33
Section 2. That the tax collector for the City is authorized to collect all taxes hereby levied upon the property located within the City and the added territory of said school district. This resolution and order shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage as provided by law.
There about and foregoing resolution and order having received the affirmative vote of the majority of Aldermen present and voting, the Mayor declared the motion carried and adopted on this the 3rd day of September, 2025.
Section 3. The City Clerk is hereby authorized to sign any and all documents required.
Section 4. A millage rate of 59.91 will produce the same amount of revenue from ad valorem taxes as was collected the prior year. The millage rate for the prior year was 62.77.
