Opportunity for Public Hearing for Section 5307 Capital Projects and Operating Assistance for the Macon Bibb County Transit Authority Transit Department under the Federal Transit Administration.
Notice is hereby given affording an opportunity for a public hearing for the purpose of coordination of Section 5307 for public transportation services assisted with Federal sources and financial assistance is being sought from the Federal Transit Administration. The proposed project application is for Section 5307 capital assistance and operating assistance for FY 2027.
Under Section 5307 a capital request for federal dollars in the amount of $950,000.00, for express purchase of:
List proposed capital requests (i.e.: transit coaches w/wheelchair lifts, training & education, in-ground bus lift, office furniture, fare box & related items, security & surveillance, maintenance tools/equipment, preventative maintenance and other associated capital items).
Radio contract, security cameras, recurring software/hardware expense, preventive Maintenance, Terminal Station maintenance and fare boxes.
The capital funding requested will be federal assistance in the amount of $760,000.00 (80% Federal); State assistance in the amount of $95,000.00 (10% match); and local assistance $95,000.00 (10% match). Operating assistance from the Federal Transit Administration will be in the amount of $4,450,000.00 (50%) toward the cost of transit operations with $4,450,000.00 (50% local match).
This proposed project is consistent with the areas Long Range Plan and conforms to joint Metropolitan Planning Regulations issued by FTA and FHWA. No persons, families or businesses will be displaced by this project. This project is in conformance with the comprehensive land use and transportation planning in this area.
The Macon Bibb County Transit Authority is affording an opportunity for interested persons, agencies, private transportation providers, human service organizations or transit operators representing the employment-related transportation needs of welfare recipients and low-income individuals to respond with respect to social, economic, and environmental aspects of the project.
