ORDINANCE NO. 52-787 AN ORDINANCE MAKING AND FIXING GENERAL TAX LEVY FOR THE CITY OF WICHITA, KANSAS, FOR THE YEAR BEGINNING JANUARY 1, 2026, AND ENDING DECEMBER 31, 2026, AND RELATING THERETO, AND CONCURRENTLY APPROVING CERTAIN AMENDMENTS TO THE 2025 ADOPTED BUDGET. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF WICHITA, KANSAS: SECTION 1. The City of Wichita, Kansas has adopted a budget requiring $175,601,326 in general taxes to be levied for the funds as specified below. There is hereby levied by the City of Wichita, Kansas on all taxable tangible property in the City of Wichita, Kansas, according to the estimated assessed valuation thereof, a mill levy rate for the City of Wichita, Kansas, and said mill levy rate is subject to the actual determination of assessed valuation by the County Clerk. It is the intention ofthe City of Wichita to set a levy sufficient to raise the above amounts; PROVIDED, that said levy must remain within those limitations set by statute or charter ordinance. SECTION 2. That in accordance with Section 1 hereof, there be and hereby is levied by the City ofWichita, Kansas, upon all the taxable property in the City of Wichita, Kansas, according to the assessed valuation thereof, the following amount for the use of the City of Wichita, Kansas, for the year 2026, which begins January 1, 2026, and ends December 31, 2026, for the following purposes, to wit: CALCULATION OF TAX DOLLARS TO BE LEVIED City of Wichita Mill Levy Assessed Valuation $5,433,881,828 Taxes to be Levied: General Fund 137,564,153 25,316 Debt Service Fund 38,037,173 7,000 Total: $175,601,326 32,316 SECTION 3. That the Director ofFinance ofthe City of, Wichita, Kansas, is hereby directed to make proper certification ofthe property taxes required in this ordinance to the County Clerk of Sedgwick County, Kansas, in conformity with and as provided by law. SECTION 4. That the amendments to the 2025 Adopted Budget of the City of Wichita, Kansas, as proposed for consideration and noticed for public hearing concurrently with the proposed 2025 budget, be, and the same ( together with any modifications thereto as may have been made following the public hearing) hereby are, approved and adopted. SECTION 5. The second reading of this ordinance shall be deferred to August 26, 2025, upon final approval of the City' s proposed budget. SECTION 6. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage and publication once in the official City paper and the Wichita Eagle.
