CITY OF GULFPORT The City of Gulfport will hold a public hearing on its proposed budget and proposed tax levies for fiscal year 2026 (October 1, 2025 – September 30, 2026) at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Sep- tember 2, 2025, in the Council Chambers of Gulfport City Hall, 2nd Floor, 2309 15th Street, Gulfport, Mississippi.
The City is now operating with projected total budget revenue of $247,917,578, and $29,634,470 of this, or 11.95 percent, is obtained through ad valorem taxes. For fiscal year 2026, the proposed budget has total projected revenue of $274,213,694. Of that amount, $30,868,000, or 11.3 percent, is proposed to be financed through a total ad valorem tax levy.
The decision to not increase the ad valorem tax millage rate for fiscal year 2026 above the current fiscal year’s ad valorem tax millage rate means you will not pay more in ad valorem taxes on your home, automobile tag, utilities, business fixtures and equipment and rental real property, unless the assessed value of your property has increased for fiscal year 2026.
The following disclosure is required due to a countywide reap- praisal of the valuation of property that resulted in an increase in assessed valuation: A millage rate of 32.72 mills will pro- duce the same amount of revenue from ad valorem taxes for the City of Gulfport as was collected the prior year. The millage rate for the City of Gulfport for the prior fiscal year was 34.00 mills.
Public Hearing
Any citizen of the City of Gulfport is invited to attend this public hearing on the proposed budget and tax levies for fiscal year 2026 and will be allowed to speak for a reasonable amount of time and offer tangible evidence before any vote is taken.
