NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on Thursday, September 4 at 9:30 a.m. in the York County Government Center, 6 South Congress Street, Room 3401, York, South Carolina, 29745, York County will hold a public hearing concerning an application to be submitted to the South Carolina Department of Commerce, Business Incentives and Community Devel- opment on or before September 15, 2025, for a Community Development Block Grant. The County is requesting $300,000 to carry out the following activity: The Wooded Valley Park Improvements Project concerns improvements to the existing Wooded Valley Park to address safety issues, improve accessibility for all residents, and increase the quality of life for the residents of York. This project will be completed in one phase. The project will consist of upgrades including improvements to asphalt the parking lot with ADA parking accessibility, ADA accessible loop trail, new playground structure and swing set meeting ADA accessibility guidelines, playground surfacing, picnic shelter and seating, benches, trash cans, landscaping, lighting, fencing, and renovated greenspaces . The total project cost is $541,198 which includes $459,925 for construction; $49,000 for engineering, and $32,273 for administration and an environmental review. It is anticipated that $300,000 of the total project cost will be covered by CDBG funds, and $241,198 will be covered with local funds. Local funds will be provided by The City of York.
This public hearing and the matters to be discussed are subject to the provisions of the City of York’s Citizens Participation Plan, developed in anticipation of participation in the State of South Carolina’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, provid- ing for the participation of the citizens of York County in the planning and implementation of community and economic development projects which will involve CDBG funds. The Citizens Participation Plan is available for review at York County, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
