Notice is Hereby Given: The Planada Community Services District (District) is the Lead Agency on the below-described Project and has prepared an Initial Study / Mitigated Negative Declaration (MND) on the proposed District Water Supply Improvements Project (Project) which consists of rehabilitating and/or replacing existing water pipelines and constructing a new water well and water storage tank. The improvements are needed to meet water supply demands and to repair or replace deteriorated portions of the City's water infrastructure. The complete Project description, location and the potential environmental effects are contained in the MND. The MND has concluded that no significant environmental impacts will occur as a result of the Project.
Project Title: Planada CSD Water Supply Improvements Project
Project Location: The District is located approximately 9 miles east of the City of Merced within Merced County and is bounded on the north by Central Yosemite Hwy 140, on the south by Miles Creek, on the west by the City of Merced, and on the east by the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada. The improvements will occur within various areas of the District.
Project Description: The Project consists of installing approximately 26,590 linear feet of new 16-inch, 8-inch, and 6-inch C900 water mains, replacing and upgrading approximately 1,120 customer meters with new 1-inch Badger E-Series Ultrasonic Meters, and developing an approximately 1.4-acre property with a new groundwater well, a 750,000-gallon elevated welded carbon-steel water storage tank, and a solar PV system to power the well and storage tank.
Document Availability and Public Review Timeline: Due to the time limits mandated by State law, your response to the MND must be sent at the earliest possible date but not later than 30 days after receipt of this notice. The review period for the Mitigated Negative Declaration will be from August 22, 2025 to September 22, 2025. Copies of the Mitigated Negative Declaration can be reviewed at the District at 103 Live Oak Street, Planada, CA 95365.
