NOTICE OF A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PROPOSED BUDGET AND PROPOSED TAX LEVIES FOR CITY OF GAUTIER, MISSISSIPPI The City of Gautier will hold a public hearing on its proposed budget and proposed tax levies for fiscal year 2026 on September 02, 2025, at 6:30 pm in the Council Chambers, located at 3330 Hwy 90, Gautier, MS. The City of Gautier is now operating with projected total budget revenue of $12,000,622. 44.767% or $5,372,327 of such revenue is obtained through ad valorem taxes. For next fiscal year, the proposed budget has total projected revenue of $13,329,878. Of that amount, 43.784% or $5,836,467 is proposed to be financed through a total ad valorem tax levy. The general ad valorem tax millage rate will remain at 33.89 mills which includes 2.8 mills dedicated solely to support Public Safety operations. The Debt Service millage rate remains 8.11 mills. The Library tax assessment remains 1.0 mill. The decision to not increase the ad valorem tax millage rate for FY 2026 above the current rate means you will not pay more in ad valorem taxes on your home, automobile tag, utilities, business fixtures and equipment and rental real property, unless the assessed value of your property increased due to reassessments for FY 2026. A millage rate of 38.66 will produce the same amount of revenue from ad valorem taxes as was collected the prior year for Municipal purposes. The millage rate assessed for Municipal purposes for the prior year was 42 mills. This mill rate and calculation does not include the 1 mil Library tax that is taxed annually. All citizens of the City of Gautier are invited to attend this public hearing on the proposed budget and tax levies for FY 2026.
