WHATCOM COUNTY NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR AN ADMINISTRATIVE USE APPROVAL
Notice is hereby given that on 6/30/2025, Alan Shurman applied for an Administrative Use Approval under case number ADM2025-00015 to authorize the conversion of living space within a detached shop into a permanent Detached Accessory Dwelling Unit (DADU) pursuant to WCC 20.36.132. The property is approximately 6.44 acres in size and contains an existing residence, an existing shop, and an existing barn. The existing shop has living space within, which will be converted to the permanent detached accessory dwelling unit. The proposed DADU is served by an on-site septic system, rainwater catchment system, and has existing access via Galbraith Ln. The application was determined complete on 8/13/2025, indicating that all submittal requirements were met. The subject property is located at 1680 Galbraith Ln, within Section 15, Township 37 N, Range 03 E of W.M. Assessor's parcel number: 3703150344850000. The application will be reviewed under the Official Whatcom County Zoning and Critical Areas Ordinances, as well as reviews by Whatcom County Planning and Development Services (Fire Marshal's Office, Natural Resources and Planning), Public Works Engineering and Health Department.
