CITY OF ROANOKE NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ROANOKE CITY COUNCIL A public hearing will be held by the Roanoke City Council on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers – 2ND floor of Roanoke City Hall located at 500 S. Oak Street, Roanoke, Texas. The purpose of the public hearing will be to hear public comments for consideration of the proposed City of Roanoke Operating and Capital Budget for Fiscal Year 2025-2026, including the Roanoke Economic and Industrial Development Corporation (Type A) Fiscal Year 2025-2026 Annual Budget. THIS BUDGET WILL RAISE MORE TOTAL PROPERTY TAXES THAN LAST YEAR’S BUD- GET BY $936,655 OR 7.6% AND OF THAT AMOUNT, $129,002 IS TAX REVENUE TO BE RAISED FROM NEW PROPERTY ADDED TO THE TAX ROLL THIS YEAR. Form 50-875 Statements required in notice if the proposed tax rate exceeds the no-new-revenue tax rate and the voter-approval tax rate but does not exceed the de minimis rate, as prescribed by Tax Code §§26.06(b-1) and 26.063(c). NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON TAX RATE This notice only applies to a taxing unit other than a special taxing unit or municipality. (name of taxing unit) The de minimis rate is the rate equal to the sum of the no-new-revenue maintenance and operations rate for City of Roanoke , (name of taxing unit) the rate that will raise $500,000, and the current debt rate for City of Roanoke . (name of taxing unit) The proposed tax rate is greater than the no-new-revenue tax rate. This means that City of Roanoke is proposing (name of taxing unit) to increase property taxes for the 2025 tax year. (current tax year) A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PROPOSED TAX RATE WILL BE HELD ON August 26, 2025, at 7pm (date and time) at 500 South Oak Street, Roanoke, TX 76262 . (meeting place) The proposed tax rate is greater than the voter-approval tax rate but not greater than the de minimis rate. However, the proposed tax rate exceeds the rate that allows voters to petition for an election under Section 26.075, Tax Code. If City of Roanoke (name of taxing unit) adopts the proposed tax rate, the qualified voters of the City of Roanoke may petition the City of Roanoke (name of taxing unit) (name of taxing unit) to require an election to be held to determine whether to reduce the proposed tax rate.
