Executive Development Impact Committee Educational Facilities Review Sub-committee Charter and Public-School Review – Florida Statutes Section 1002.33(18)(a):
Florida law allows charter school facilities to be developed in the same manner as non-charter public school facilities, including utilizing any interlocal agreements that a local government may have with the local school district. Pursuant to an interlocal agreement with the School Board of Miami-Dade County, Miami-Dade County Resolution No. R-678-06 directs the Developmental Impact Committee (DIC) to review public educational facilities. The resolution further states that the DIC is authorized and directed to designate an Educational Facilities Review Sub-Committee (the “Sub- Committee”) to review these applications. The Sub-Committee has not convened for several years because there have not been any requests for new non-charter public schools. ASPR #Z2024000175 Proposed K-8 Charter School with a maximum enrollment of 1,500 students, located in the North Central Urban Area District (NCUAD), designated Mixed- Use Corridor (MC), Subdistrict Center and Edge. Administrative Site Plan Review (“ASPR”) for the properties located on the south side of NW 79th Street, between NW 10th Avenue and NW 12th Avenue, identified by the following Miami-Dade County Property Appraiser Folio Numbers: 30-3111-000- 0210, 30-3111- 000-0220, 30-3111-000-0250, 30-3111-000-0260, 30-3111-000-0270, 30-3111-000-0280, 30- 3111-000-0290, 30-3111-000-0300, 30-3111-000-0310, 30- 3111-000-0320 and 30-3111-000-0330. KSF NW 79th Street, LLC, (the “Applicant”), is proposing to develop the property with a K-8 Charter School for up to approximately 1,176 students in Phase I and a future total enrollment of 1,500 students with the completion of Phase II. The development program proposes an approximate 111,148 square foot three (3) story building for the school (Phase I building area includes 98,177+/- square feet, while Phase II includes an additional 12,971+/- square feet), which will include standard K-8 classrooms, specialty classrooms, science labs, enrichment classrooms, a gymnasium, boys and girls locker rooms, a warming kitchen and cafeteria, as well as offices and workrooms for teachers and faculty. The school facility will also include approximately 33,588 square feet of outdoor recreation/soccer field area, a basketball court and a tot lot.
