Executive Development Impact Committee Educational Facilities Review Sub-committee Charter and Public-School Review – Florida Statutes Section 1002.33(18)(a): Florida law allows charter school facilities to be developed in the same manner as non-charter public school facilities, including utilizing any interlocal agreements that a local government may have with the local school district. Pursuant to an interlocal agreement with the School Board of Miami-Dade County, Miami-Dade County Resolution No. R-678-06 directs the Developmental Impact Committee (DIC) to review public educational facilities. The resolution further states that the DIC is authorized and directed to designate an Educational Facilities Review Sub-Committee (the “Sub- Committee”) to review these applications. The Sub-Committee has not convened for several years because there have not been any requests for new non-charter public schools. The Sub-Committee is composed of the following members as described R-678-06: • Lourdes M. ASPR #Z2025000050 Proposes Charter School with a maximum enrollment of 1,600 students in grades 6-12 Administrative Site Plan Review (“ASPR”) for the property located on the Northwest Intersection of Theoretical SW 30th Street and SW 147 Avenue. FARO Investments, Inc., (the “Applicant”), proposes to establish a Charter School grade levels 6 – 12, with a maximum enrollment of 1,600 students on the Property. In order to establish the proposed charter school the applicant has submitted a site plan entitled “Academir Charter School Middle - High School.” The Academir Charter School will consist of two school buildings. A 2-story Arts Center, which houses an 18,000 square foot auditorium, and a main 3-story school building that will house classrooms, offices, bathrooms, lockers, a lunchroom, kitchen, and an enclosed gymnasium. Furthermore, the proposed charter school will include a full size outdoor sports field with bleachers, an outside basketball court, and an outside tennis court for its students. The charter school and its proposed facilities will be located with direct frontage on a major corridor (SW 147 Avenue), which will provide means of access to the Property.
ASPR #Z2025000049 Proposes Charter School with a maximum enrollment of 1,500 students in grades K-12 Administrative Site Plan Review (“ASPR”) for the property located at 6500 SW 97th Avenue. Gateway Baptist Church of Miami, Inc. (the “Applicant”), on behalf of True North Classical Academy, Inc. (“True North”) proposes to establish a Charter School use with a maximum enrollment of 1,500 students in grades K-12. The school will accomodate an additional three-story classroom building, a two-story gymnasium, and improved outdoor recreation areas.
