City of Fresno Notice of Public Hearing NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Fresno City Hearing Officer will hold a public hearing concerning Special Assessments for costs incurred by the City for weed abatement, trash and debris removal, demolitions, securing of structures, public nuisance administrative time, and administrative citations. These assessments relate to costs incurred by the City of Fresno in the performance of code enforcement on private property within the city. Assessments are scheduled to be placed on the property taxes in the 2026/2027 tax year. The hearing will be held at Fresno City Hall, 2600 Fresno Street, Room #2165-A, on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at 9:00 A.M., Thursday, August 28, 2025 at 9:00 A.M The purpose of this public hearing is to provide affected property owners with the opportunity to personally appear at the public hearing and present information concerning why the costs incurred by the City should not be placed on their tax bill. Pursuant to Fresno Municipal Code Section 1-506(c), if you wish to protest the assessment you must first register a request to be heard with the City Clerk's Office, Fresno City Hall, 2600 Fresno Street, Room 2133, (559) 621-7650 by the following deadline: 1. Sign up any day and time before 9 A.M. on August 26, 2025- for the hearing scheduled for Wednesday, August 27, 2025. 2. Sign up any day and time before 9 A.M. on August 27, 2025- for the hearing scheduled for Thursday, August 28, 2025 All person(s) registered to be heard should then personally appear at the Public Hearing to present any evidence and/or statements supporting their protest of the assessment. If you do not register with the City Clerk's Office by the appropriate deadline to protest your assessment, your protest will not be heard. In accordance with Fresno Municipal Code Section 1-506(d), the scope of the protest hearing will be limited to the calculation of the amount of the costs or penalties when there has already been an opportunity for a hearing for the underlying violation. PLEASE NOTE: If an assessment is placed upon your property and you fail to pay your property taxes, your property may be subject to tax sale after 5 years pursuant to Revenue and Tax Code 3691 for unpaid delinquent assessments. The amount of the assessment for each parcel is currently available at the City Clerk's Office, Fresno City Hall, 2nd Floor, Room 2133. Should you have any questions regarding this hearing, please call (559) 621-8400 and City Staff will be available to answer questions. Please note that you (or your authorized representative, and any witnesses you may wish to testify on your behalf at the hearing) will be subject to the following COVID-19 protocols in order to gain access to City Hall for your appeal hearing: You will be required to enter City Hall through the security screening station in the main lobby.
