NOTICE OF TAX FOR SCHOOL CAPITAL OUTLAY The School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida will soon consider a measure to continue to impose a 1.5 mill property tax for the capital outlay projects listed herein. This tax is in addition to the school board’s proposed tax of 4.9990 mills for operating expenses and is proposed solely at the discretion of the school board. THE PROPOSED COMBINED SCHOOL BOARD TAX INCREASE FOR BOTH OPERATING EXPENSES AND CAPITAL OUTLAY IS SHOWN IN THE ADJACENT NOTICE The capital outlay tax will generate approximately $840,381,833 to be used for the following projects: CONSTRUCTION AND REMODELING PAYMENTS FOR RENTING AND Capital Outlay Administration LEASING EDUCATIONAL FACILITIES New instructional facilities AND SITES Additions/remodeling of instructional Leases for school and district facilities facilities PAYMENT OF COSTS OF COMPLIANCE Sites/site improvements WITH ENVIRONMENTAL STATUTES, MAINTENANCE, RENOVATION, AND RULES, AND REGULATIONS REPAIR Environmental hazards/asbestos Reimbursement of the maintenance, renovation, abatement and repairs paid through the General Fund as PAYMENT OF PREMIUMS FOR permitted by Florida Statute PROPERTY AND CASUALTY Maintenance services INSURANCE NECESSARY TO Instructional facilities renovations INSURE THE EDUCATIONAL AND Roof repair & replacement ANCILLARY PLANTS OF THE Support services renovations SCHOOL DISTRICT Safety to life repairs Property and Casualty Insurance up to Renovations for handicapped statutory limit per unweighted full-time MOTOR VEHICLE PURCHASES equivalent student Annual master lease purchase payments for 152 PAYMENTS TO PRIVATE ENTITIES TO school buses OFFSET THE COST OF SCHOOL Purchase of 50 electric school buses BUSES PURSUANT TO S. 1011.71(2) Purchase of maintenance vehicles (i), F.S. NEW AND REPLACEMENT EQUIPMENT, Contract with various private entities for 60 COMPUTER AND DEVICE HARDWARE buses offsetting the cost of transporting AND OPERATING SYSTEM SOFTWARE students NECESSARY FOR GAINING ACCESS TO PAYMENTS OF COSTS OF OPENING OR ENHANCING THE USE OF ELECTRONIC DAY COLLECTION FOR LIBRARY AND DIGITAL INSTRUCTIONAL CONTENT MEDIA CENTER AND RESOURCES, AND ENTERPRISE New instructional facilities RESOURCE SOFTWARE Additions/remodeling of instructional Annual master lease purchase payments for new/ facilities replacement equipment PAYMENT OF SALARIES AND Instructional program equipment BENEFITS Support services equipment Salaries and benefits for school bus drivers District-wide FF&E CHARTER SCHOOL CAPITAL OUTLAY PAYMENTS FOR EDUCATIONAL FACILITIES PROJECTS PURSUANT TO S. AND SITES DUE UNDER A LEASE- 1013.62(4), F.S. PURCHASE AGREEMENT Purchase of real property Annual master lease purchase payments for Construction of school facilities various facilities and renovations Purchase or lease of permanent or Annual master lease purchase payments for relocatable school facilities Qualified Zone Academy Bonds for various Purchase of vehicles to transport students facilities renovations and technology Renovation, repair, and maintenance of Annual master lease purchase payments for site school facilities purchases Payment of the cost of premiums for Annual master lease purchase payments for property and casualty insurance Qualified School Construction Bonds and Build necessary to insure school facilities America Bonds for various facilities/ Purchase or lease of driver’s education renovations vehicles, maintenance vehicles, security vehicles, or vehicles used in storing or distributing materials and equipment Computer and device hardware and operating system software necessary for gaining access to or enhancing the use of electronic and digital instructional content and resources, and enterprise resource software Payment of costs of opening day collection for library media center All concerned citizens are invited to a public hearing to be held on July 30, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. at the Board Auditorium, Miami-Dade County School Board Administration Building, 1450 N.E. Second Avenue, Miami, Florida, 33132. A DECISION on the proposed CAPITAL OUTLAY TAXES will be made at this hearing.
