NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ALGONA Permanent Support & Transitional Housing ORDINANCE Ord. #1257-25 Notice is hereby posted that the City of Algona will be holding a public hearing re: a City-proposed ordinance regarding Permanent Support & Transitional Housing (PS/TH). Project Name: Algona PS/TH Ordinance (Ord. #1257-25) Applicant: City of Algona Project Location: City Wide Project Description: The applicant is proposing additions/amendments to the Algona Municipal Code that align it with the City's recently-approved 2024 Comprehensive Plan, as required by the State of Washington, as well as with Washington State House Bill 1220 (2021). Permits Required: None. Environmental Review (SEPA): A SEPA Checklist will be submitted to the City's SEPA Official in the near future, after which the Official will issue a determination, provide a separate public notice, receive comments from the public, and close the determination process. Studies Required: None. Consistency & Mitigation: The proposed PS/TH Ordinance has been reviewed and found to be consistent with the City's Comprehensive Plan. It is inherently not consistent with the City's Zoning Code, as it is intended to update said Code. Hearing Information: The public hearing will be held in front of the Planning Commission on August 7, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. at Algona City Hall at 200 Washington Blvd., Algona, WA 98001 in the Council Chambers. Public Review & Comment: Any person has the right to submit written comments following this Notice by sending them to City Hall, Attn: Dana Parker, City Clerk, 200 Washington Blvd, Algona, WA 98001 or by email at danap@algonawa.gov. The deadline for public comments is prior to the Hearing. Additionally, any person has the right to receive notice of and/or participate in any public hearing as well as request a copy of the decision (Ordinance) once made or request an appeal, if applicable, via Section 14.04.090 AMC. The proposed ordinance is available for review at City Hall, Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For additional information, please contact City Hall at 253.833.2897.
