Site Background: The Tacoma Port Earley Business Center property was created in the early 1900s by filling former tidal flats. It was used as a Naval shipyard during World War I and World War II, with shipbuilding along the shoreline and support activities on the upland. The Port of Tacoma acquired the site around 1960, and it has since been used for various industrial purposes. The Port plans to redevelop the site for continued industrial and marine-related uses. Cleanup efforts will address petroleum contamination from underground storage tanks and LNAPL (Light Non-Aqueous Phase Liquid) impacts. Questions?
