U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Sacramento District Restoration Advisory Board (RAB)
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Sacramento District is soliciting the public to assess interest in establishing a Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) to provide input on the environmental restoration at an area known as Mount Owen Rifle Range through the Formerly Used Defense Sites (FUDS) program. A RAB is an advisory board made up of interested and concerned community members who reflect the various interests of the local community, as well as local, state, and federal government agencies
From 1942 to 1946, the U.S. Army used the former Mount Owen Rifle Range in Fresno County, California (approximately 6 miles northeast of Clovis and 17 miles northeast of Fresno) to train troops for World War II. The site simulated combat conditions with obstacles including smoke, tear gas, buried dynamite, barbed wire, and live fire from fixed machine guns. The objective of the current project is to collect scientifically defensible site information to support development of a risk assessment and determine the need for remedial actions to protect human health, safety and the environment. This information will be used to develop and evaluate remedial alternatives for presentation to the public and other stakeholders.
If you are interested in participating in a RAB for the Mount Owen Rifle Range FUDS, please submit a response within 30 days of this posting via email to FUDS_SPK@usace.army.mil or via mail to:
