DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES SEEKS COMMENT ON A DRAFT HAZARDOUS WASTE PERMIT FOR THE FORMER BANNISTER FEDERAL COMPLEX The Missouri Department of Natural Resources' Waste Management Program invites the public to review and offer written comments on a draft hazardous waste permit for the former Bannister Federal Complex facility until August 4, 2025. During the public comment period, anyone can request a public meeting or public hearing about the draft permit. After a thorough technical review of the permit applications, the Waste Management Program prepared a draft Part I Permit for the former Bannister Federal Complex facility. The draft permit requires the permittees, to conduct post-closure care and corrective action activities at the facility and retain responsibility for any potential future releases to the environment. The draft Part I Permit and a fact sheet are available online at dnr.mo.gov/waste-recycling/what-were-doing/public-involvement/notices-comments. Some supporting documents are not available online due to their file size. The public can review and copy the permit application, draft Part I Permit and other supporting documents at the Mid-Continent Public Library's Blue Ridge Branch, 9253 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, Missouri., during their normal business hours; or the department's Elm Street Conference Center in Jefferson City.
