Request for Qualifications (RFQ) Announcement Florida Power & Light (FPL) is seeking engineering firms to submit qualifications for a project at Miami International Airport (MIA). MIA intends to air-condition Building 3090 to accommodate new electrical gear that will be placed into service in that facility. The selected firm must evaluate all outside air (OA) access points (windows, doors, roof, etc.) to ensure operating efficiency, find and/or correct deficiencies with a plan to seal the building envelope, and document life expectancy. Based on this project's findings, the space will be cooled by one of two methods: 1) new Dx roof mounted equipment or 2) tapping existing chilled water piping, new AHUs and associated controls. Responding firms will be evaluated based on the following criteria: 1. Safety: Documentation of EMR less than 1.0 from workman's comp carrier 2. Experience: 10-15 years of experience in electrical, mechanical and building envelope design Design in electrical and associated controls for mechanical systems. Refenced project experience in Large, Chilled Water Systems of 5000 Tons and greater Knowledge of the Miami-Dade Aviation Department (MDAD) Design Guideline Manual (DGM) Performed work at MIA within the past five years. 3. Financial Stability 4. Self-Performing or Subcontracting (Self-performing is preferable) 5. Performance Bond Capacity ($1MM minimum) 6. Insurance (ability to comply with requirements) 7. Comply with badging requirement for the employees to access the Airfield Operation Area (AOA). (Note: Not applicable for Bldg. 3090 but employees may need to access other restricted areas.) 8. Comply with vehicle ramp permits authorizations Full RFQ documents may be obtained upon request by emailing FPLOSPSProjects@fpl.com. FPL will evaluate all responses received within 30 days from the date of this publication and select a minimum of three (3) qualified bidders to participate in a project-specific Request for Proposal (RFP).
