THE U.S. AIR FORCE CIVIL ENGINEER CENTER HAS COMPLETED A CERCLA FIVE-YEAR REVIEW AT
FORMER HOMESTEAD AIR FORCE BASE/ HOMESTEAD AIR RESERVE BASE, FL
The United States Air Force has completed the fifth Five-Year Review for environmental remedies implemented and being maintained at the former Homestead Air Force Base/Homestead Air Reserve Base, in accordance with the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA). A periodic review of environmental remedies is required every five years to ensure continued protection of human health and the environment. This review assessed the effectiveness of protective measures implemented at eight Former Homestead AFB sites and twelve Homestead Air Reserve Base sites. Based on this completed review, the selected remedies at thirteen of the twenty sites are functioning as intended and are protective of human health and the environment. Selected remedies at the remaining seven sites were found to be currently protective in the short-term, pending additional investigations to determine long-term protective remedies. The completed report is accessible to the public at the following website: https://ar.cce.af.mil/. The sixth Five-Year Review will take place in 2030.
