On August 23, 2025, Mary Ann (Young) and George Stanley Reeley, Jr. celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. After a one-year engagement when she said yes on August 5, 1974, she said I DO on August 23rd, 1975, at a ceremony held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in West Columbia, SC.
The wedding, officiated by the late Father Tawes and the late Pastor Park, had the organ played by the late Jill Reeley Lee, as well as a soloist and a small orchestra.
They honeymooned for a week in Gatlinburg, TN, before moving into a garage apartment atop Reeley’s Body Shop in Triangle City, West Columbia.
Stan worked in sales at Modern Lighting Center before working at Palmetto Baptist Hospital (now Prisma Hospital), retiring as the director of facilities management. Mary Ann worked as a medical technologist before moving into the insurance industry.
They were high-school sweethearts, dating in high school and college before eventually getting married in 1975.
In their 20s and 30s, they traveled and performed in many community theater productions, before their daughter Whitneigh was born in 1984. Their son Jacob joined the family in 1990. After living their lives in SC, they eventually relocated to much cooler Mars Hill, NC, in 2005.
They are blessed with a grandson, Oz and a granddaughter, Teagan, and are looking ahead to their next 50 years.
