(pop. 1505) The City of Bradenton Beach is now accepting applications for Building Official.
Essential Job Functions: Department Head with three employees you will be responsible for such as: Code Enforcement, a Permit Clerk, and Permit Tech.
Performs a variety of routine and complex technical, supervisory, and administrative work in plans review and analysis, inspections, and enforcement to determine compliance with all applicable ordinances as well as accepted standards relating to building and zoning. Responsible for Building Code and floodplain compliance. Performs enforcement of city building, mechanical, plumbing, electrical & all other construction codes, land development code and related regulations and ordinances, as well as required FEMA, environmental and state accessibility and energy codes; supervised City code enforcement program and officer; reviews all construction plans and specifications for compliance with City codes.
Makes physical inspections of all construction projects within City and performs such other duties and functions as may be normally required of a building official. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Must have an extensive and complete working knowledge, training and experience in all aspects of the construction process, including permitting, licensing, inspections and other procedural requirements of building and local codes, state statutes and "model" codes; and the ability to read and interpret all forms and phases of submitted construction plans. Prior experience as a city or county building official is preferred. Good interpersonal and public communication skills are necessary. Candidates must have good computer skills and a working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Edge; Teams; Word; Excel; PowerPoint; and CitizenServe.
Minimum Qualifications: At least a bachelor's degree in business, public administration, architecture, engineering or other construction related disciplines; or 10 years actual experience as a building inspector, architect, engineer or building construction contractor; or an equivalent combination of education and experience determined directly related to the foregoing specific requirement. Candidates must be licensed under Chapter 468, Florida Statutes, as a Building Codes Administrator, must be
a certified floodplain administrator, must possess and maintain a Florida driver's license; and pursuant to Chapter 12, Florida Statutes must file annually a "Form 1, Limited Financial Disclosure," as required by law.
