PUBLIC NOTICE
The U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration (EDA) is considering a request for Federal assistance from The Technical College of the Lowcountry to construct the Arthur E. Brown Regional Workforce Training Center in Okatie, Beaufort County, South Carolina. Pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), EDA is conducting an assessment of the potential of the proposed project to affect the environment and/or historic properties. Notice is hereby given that the project is proposed to be located in, or may affect, a floodplain and/or wetland as defined by Executive Order (EO) 11988 and/or EO 1 1990
The project is the construction of a 52,125-square-foot facility on the Technical College of the Lowcountry (TCL) New River Campus to house workforce training program offerings for skilled certificate programs to meet the needs of regional employers. The project will be located on the New River Campus at 100 Community College Drive in Okatie, South Carolina 29909. The proposed center will face Fording Island Road (US Hwy 278. Comments received by 5:00 pm eastern on Monday, May 18, 2026 will be considered. A copy of the NEPA/NH PA decisional document will be available upon request at the EDA Atlanta Regional Office.
