NOTICE OF FAA APPROVAL
OF A FINDING OF NO
SIGNIFICANT IMPACT (FONSI)
CONCERNING THE TREE
OBSTRUCTION REMOVAL
AT THE MIDAMERICA
ST. LOUIS AIRPORT,
MASCOUTAH, ILLINOIS
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announces its approval of a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) on a 2025 Environmental Assessment to remove tree obstructions and to build a permanent service road at the MidAmerica St. Louis Airport, Mascoutah, Illinois. The FONSI indicates the proposed Federal actions are consistent with existing environmental policies and objectives as set forth in the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 and will not significantly affect the quality of the environment.
The environmental review, agency consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for the proposed actions are being carried out in accordance with FAA Orders 1050.1F, Policies and Procedures for Considering Environmental Impact, 5050.4B, National Environmental Policy Act Instructions for Airport Actions, Executive Order 11988, Floodplain Management, and Paragraph 7 of the U.S. Department of Transportation Order 5650.2. Encroachments to the FEMA 100-year floodplain associated with the proposed federal action are expected to not be significant and would not adversely affect the natural and beneficial values of the floodplain, result in a high probability of loss of human life, or result in damages that could be substantial in cost or extent, include the interruption of service or loss of a transportation facility.
