PUBLIC NOTICE
Notice is hereby given that Graymont (PA) Inc., located at 375 Graymont Road, Bellefonte, PA 16823, Spring Township, Centre County has filed an application to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) for an NPDES permit renewal. This application is made under the provisions of the "Noncoal Surface Mining Conservation and Reclamation Act" and "Clean Streams Law".
The application is to renew existing NPDES Permit No. PA0220248 for the Pleasant Gap underground mining operations including Mines 1, 2, 3 & 4 (Mining Permit No. 1474301; 1,082 acres); Mines 5 & 6 (Mining Permit No. 14980301; 481.1 acres) and Noll Property (Mining Permit No. 14180401; 470 acres); affecting 2,033.1 total acres including 84.9 surface acres of support area. The receiving stream will be Logan Branch.
The location of this mining activity is on the southeast side of Route 64 approximately 2 miles northeast of the village of Pleasant Gap, as shown on the U.S. Geological Survey Mingoville 7.5 - Minute Quadrangle map. Copies of the complete NPDES renewal application are available for inspection at the Spring Township municipal building located at 1309 Blanchard Street, Bellefonte, PA 16823.
